What do you believe in?

On this blog, I like to showcase cool things that are happening right here in my back yard, that a lot of people are not even paying attention to.
Sometimes you just have to believe, (and work) and good things will happen.

My hometown of La Salle is a good example. Four years ago, a group was formed by the mayor to put on a few small events each year for the community.  It started with Christmas and a Summer Festival.  Later, Halloween and St. Patricks Day events were added.
In September the mayor, and a few of us involved in the group traveled to Springfield, IL to compete for the Governor's Hometown Award.  The video above was shown as part of the presentation.  It showcases all four events.
La Salle won the Governor's Hometown Award for towns of our size, and was invited back to compete against the other six towns who also won for the Governor's Cup which is awarded to the overall winner.  The winner will be announced November 5, 2013.
