Holidays lights!
It's the most wonderful time of the year!
One of my favorite things to do at this time of year is to pick up some friends and some hot chocolate and drive around looking at holiday lights with the local Christmas Station playing in the car.
Some displays are pretty, some are cute-and some are totally over the top! It is a lot of fun and it reminds me of being a kid again. This year, Ax Church in La Salle has put together a map of some of the great displays in the area. Click here for a map.
One of my favorites from when I was a kid has been relocated to Westclox Ave. in Peru. It is teddy bears on a winter playground.
What a blast from the past!
Bears ride on a Ferris Wheel, play on a Swingset, spin on a Merry-go-Round and sled down a hill in the back yard.
There are many other favorites in town, but I haven't gotten permission to post photos, so more may be coming.

Christmas in Spring Valley
Lighted Santa Parade in Spring Valley at 6pm on Saturday night. This is a fun evening parade where people light up their floats, cars, and even themselves during the "Elf Costume" contest. Santa visits with kids in the mini park following the parade.

Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra "The Nutcracker"
Dec. 10, 2011 - Dec. 11, 2011 , 2pm Saturday /3pm Sunday LP High SchoolThe Illinois Vally Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of IVSO Music Director and Conductor Lucia Matos, will perform Tchaikovsky's classic holiday ballet "The Nutcracker" Ballet dancers from Dance Center, Lasalle, Gray's School of Dance, Ottawa and Ottawa Dance Academy will join IVSO along with singers from Illinois Valley Choir $12 adults/$5 Children 12 and under.
